The kill clock is ticking…

Pearce’s ex-girlfriend is back. She needs twenty grand before midnight. Or she’s dead.

She doesn’t have the money. Nor does Pearce. And times running out. Fast…

Kill Clock is a part of a line of books that are aimed at adult reluctant readers. In an effort to encourage this group to read the language is simple and unadorned and the story is short and straightforward.

The events of Kill Clock feature the same character as Hard Man and Two-Way Split and take place sometime after the events in Hard Man. None of this is necessary for an understanding of the story but is worth mentioning.

The stripped down nature of the book is never an impediment and Guthrie uses the platform to full effect, showing off a number of his strengths. Namely dark humor, sharp dialog, good action and an explosive finale.

As for its intended purpose, giving adult readers something to read that isn’t aimed at kids, I think this book is a success and hopefully finds its way into the hands of those that could benefit most from it.
