Over at Marvel.com an announcement of the formation of Marvel Noir, that will be comprised of three mini-series re-imagining and placing Marvel characters in the 1930′s and will include SpiderMan, Daredevil and X-Men was made.
The first title will be X-Men to be released in February and to be written by Fred Van Lente. At CBR in an interview conducted by David Richards, series artist Dennis Calero, stated:
“We wanted to use these iconic characters to tell a real noir genre-style story like the books of Dashiell Hammett or Raymond Chandler, and classic films like ‘Chinatown,’” Dennis Calero added. “The way we approached it was, ‘What if these characters had been created in the Timely [Marvel Comics' early predecessor] age of the late ’30s and ’40s instead of the Marvel age of the ’60s?’
