Currently, there are auctions for original comic book art depicting Superman being conducted to support next year’s Joe Shuster Awards. The pieces in question were drawn by a group of artist that include such luminaries as Dave Sim, Todd McFarlane, and Francis Manapul.
A little information regarding the history the history of the pieces offered by one the creators of the award:
Back in June we had a number of different artists submit their version of the Man of Steel in honour of his 70th birthday and to honour his co-creator, Joe Shuster, for whom the Joe Shuster Canadian Comic Book Creator Awards have been named.
This artwork was created for the JOE SHUSTER CANADIAN COMIC BOOK CREATOR AWARDS for a promotional art show entitled VISIONS OF AN ICON: SUPERMAN that was displayed twice (in June and November 2008 in Toronto). Artists donated these pieces for fundraising efforts for the 2009 Joe Shuster Awards.
With their permission I am duplicating some of the images of art here.

About the Award:
The Joe Shuster Awards (sometimes referred to as the “Shusters” or the “JSAs”) are given for achievement in the creation of comic books, graphic novels and webcomics by Canadians. The full name is the Joe Shuster Canadian Comic Book Creator Awards.
The Joe Shuster Awards were created in 2005 by the Canadian Comic Book Creator Awards Association – James Waley, Kevin A. Boyd, Tyrone Biljan and Dave Darrigo and are named in honour of Joe Shuster (1914-1992), the Canadian-born co-creator of Superman.
Creator nominees are nominated for their BODY OF WORK during the previous calendar year, not just for one specific work. Hall of Fame and Retailer Awards are selected by individual committees after a review and discussion of eligible candidates. Four Hall of Fame candidates will be initiated into the Canadian Comic Book Creator Hall of Fame in 2008. Aside from the retailer award committee, active creators can only act as advisors so as not to influence a bias in any of the creative awards categories.
