Elmo’s Christmas Countdown
Folks, we have been through some bad and some good, but my favorite Christmas Special that was created after 1990 has to be Elmo’s Christmas Countdown. Now right off the bat you say to yourself, this is Sesame Street are you crazy? Well I am not sure if you are aware, but Sesame Street does cater to both the child and the adult as witnessed by one of their most recent skits called 30 Rocks, a spoof of the NBC show 30 Rock. The story of Elmo’s Christmas Countdown starts with us being introduced to Stiller the Elf, played by Ben Stiller, who is talking to a snowball about the year Christmas almost did not happen. Oscar the Grouch messes up the plan for the Christmas Counter Downer and Elmo has to save the day. There are a ton of guest appearances including, Sheryl Crow, Jennifer Hudson, Tony Sirico, Steve Schirripa, Alicia Keys, Jamie Foxx, Ty Pennington among others, with Kevin James playing Santa Claus. There is a lot of singing, all of it well done, even if I am not a big fan of Jamie Foxx when he sings. The skits were all well done and there were many times where I really did laugh out loud as well as my children, both for different reasons. This is also available on DVD I believe and should be in everyone’s Holiday collection.
Here is my favorite skit
