It has been a rough holiday season for my childhood memories. First we had A Miser Brothers’ Christmas, now this. To be fair the first episode I saw was the “Dear Santa” and then I only saw the previews of the other episodes, but it was enough to make my inner child kick, scream and throw a tantrum. You know what Peanuts has, well I will tell you…class and character. Guess what this takes away from Peanuts…yup…character. I grew up reading the paperback books of Peanuts and watching the television specials, even thinking to myself back then that the paperback books were the true feel of the gang. Charles Schulz had something special when he did those comic strips. I grew up on them and they helped hone my morals as a young boy, and for that I am thankful. The comic strip should be mandatory reading in our public school system. So if you can look past the fact that they have really done a number on the feel of the strip, we still have the word and letter of what Schulz was doing, which I guess means something. Peanuts is NOT South Park, do not try to make it look that way. Peanuts is more then flash animation of which we have a million of, it is a classic in two mediums, let us leave it that way.
You can watch the previews over at amazon and decide for yourself. They even have a free Christmas Episode for the time being.
