Interesting article! Jeff articulates what draws me to fantasy perfectly. I love world-building in fantasy novels and the very best thrill me because they make these imaginary places palpable while retaining that sense of wonder that gives the genre its charm. As a history buff, I just love when I recognize elements from history employed and altered in a fantasy setting - mainly because historial fiction, like fantasy, is a form of travelling on the wings of imagination.
