Neil Gaiman adds more hardware to the trophy room (Star Destroyer?) as he confirms that his The Graveyard Book is the recipient of this year’s prestigious Newbery Medal. Given since 1922, the award is presented by the Association for Library Service to Children of the American Library Association (ALA) to the author of the Outstanding American Children’s Book.
BookSpot Central would like to congratulate Mr. Gaiman!

Library listservs have been hot all morning with the ALA award announcements, and from what I can tell, most YA/children’s librarians are very happy with the Newbery winner – including this one.
I honestly am probably not aware of any of the likely competitors, but as guy who was picking Sandman comics off the racks, I’m always down for Gaiman winning anything.
Hear hear!
I heard about this on NPR this morning. This book was all kinds of awesome, and now everyone knows it.
Love the Drake!
