The 44th Academy of Country Music awards were held last night and the winners are shown below. Some fun facts from the press release include things like this was Reba McEntire’s 11th year hosting, Carrie Underwood is now eligible for the Triple Crown Award, she is also the 7th female to win Entertainer of the Year in that awards history, and Brad Paisley holds a total of 12 ACM awards.

What’s the deal??
So please, this was a country music awards right? I am sorry but at least three artist’s come to my mind as NOT country;Taylor Swift, Hanna Montana (whatever) and one who is a tiny bit more country but, just not in my book is Meranda Lambert. I don’t like the rock tossing of hair and the stopping around the stage. There are few who have the right to be both but not many. They don’t. The Country music awards these days are far from country and I don’t like it. I saw for the first time a bit of disgust on the face of Gerorge Strait, can’t say as I blame him.
WHAT???????? Where has the real country music gone? I watched with my grandmother and we were so sad…poor george strait…obviously there were alot of younger voters online. taylor swift and carrie underwood are beautiful singers…but where was george straits recognition??????????????
I DONT UNDERSTAND PEOPLE GEORGE STRAIT HAS WON BEFORE AND LOTS OF OTHER CMA SINGERS HAVE TOO, CARRIE UNDERWOOD HAS WENT INTO THIS 100 MILES PER HOUR AND DESERVES THIS. SHE HAS WORKED JUST AS HARD AS EVERYBODY ELSE. IT’s WRONG FOR ANYBODY TO SAY SHE SHOULD HAVE NOT RECEIVED THAT AWARD. I THOUGHT IT WAS A GREAT SHOW!
Its has nothing to do with Carrie Underwood winning the Entertainer of the year award. She was much deserving of the honor. The album of the year award going to Taylor Swift and not George Strait is what everyone is in an uproar about. Swift who has a great album full of pop country winning over what many insiders felt is the best country album period. Many fans, fellow country artist and country insiders all said it should have gone to Strait. This award isn’t a popularity award like EOTY is now. Nor should it. It needs to go to the best ‘country’ album and not a popularity to win over the youth! Underwood deserved EOTY as well as Paisley for Male Vocalist. Album should have gone to ‘Troubadour’…I actually have listened to all the nominated albums…it was by far the best country album.
