Not sure if I’ve heard of this film before but 20th Century Fox is making a Gulliver’s Travels film, and they’ve landed the character that will serve as Gulliver’s (Jack Black) editor in Amanda Peet. This is apparently a modern adaptation of the classic work by Jonathan Swift.
Is this the movie that Emily Blunt was committed to, and thus couldn’t do Iron Man II- and was replaced by Scarlet Johansson? Blunt is in this movie along with Jason Segel, and the aforementioned Black. This could be a disaster, but at the very least it can’t possibly be as boring as the recent Ted Danson adaptation I saw.
Here is the synopsis:
A big screen adaptation of “Gulliver’s Travels,” with Jack Black taking on the title role of Lemuel Gulliver, a free-spirited travel writer who, on an assignment to the Bermuda Triangle, suddenly finds himself a giant among men when he washes ashore on the hidden island of Liliput, home to a population of industrious, yet tiny, people.
This has a June 2010 release date.
