Speculative fiction and ’80′s kids have a lot to look forward to in theaters this year. X-Men Origins, Star Trek, G.I. Joe, Terminator Salvation, Up and more.
The movie I most want to see, however, is James Cameron’s Avatar, which Time recently said it Will Change Your Life. The project has been pretty hush, hush, and subject to even debunked rumors on the cutting of the trailers, but over the last week two members of the cast have apparently given us some tidbits.
In an interview with Collider, Laz Alonso when asked the question, “How does it feel to think about the fact that, not only are you in one of the most anticipated films of the year, but it’s also one of the most anticipated sci-fi films of the last decade?”, replied with:
My dream was to be in Star Wars and, unfortunately, I wasn’t big enough in my career at the time that Star Wars was casting and getting characters. To have the opportunity to be a part of this trilogy is the biggest gift I could have.
That’s pretty interesting and may add more to angles to the comments by Michelle Rodriguez earlier in the week when talking talking to Latina:
NOTE: SPOILERS to every movie Rodriguez movie of 2009 – you’ve been warned:
Anytime you’ve got a wild, independent, free-spirited woman, she has to die at the end of the movie, unless it’s a movie that’s so sci-fi that it can’t be real, like Tomb Raider. Me? I die in every film that I’m in this year. They’re just gonna have to keep on killing me. I’ll keep coming back, until they realize what’s hot and make flicks for bitches like me.
Avatar is scheduled for a December release.
