Caprica – Sam Adama played by Sasha Roiz upped to regular

THR.com is reporting that Sasha Roiz who plays Sam Adama, brother to the lead role of Joseph Adama played by Esai Morales has been upped from a guest to a series regular. 

I have not caught the DVD yet, are they going to be showing this before the series starts as well?  If so when is that happening?  I am just not sold on this yet, even though I really liked Battlestar Galactica.
