Discovery Kids Network (Discovery Communications) and Hasbro are working together in a joint venture on some children’s programming Televisionweek is reporting. The venture will include not on a cable network, but also a web site. Discovery will also be receiving a pretty hefty sum for the Discovery Kids assets. The network is said to debut in 2010 with programming from Discovery Kids Network as well as some new programming based on the Hasbro brands which include GI Joe and Transformers among others.
This is grand news indeed, if they can capture the charm of the old school GI Joe and Transformers I think we are in for a pretty cool network channel here. Hasbro also as the brands of Romper Room, Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble, Cranium, and My Little Pony which could also get some shows.
