THR is reporting that the much-discussed Green Lantern movie will be filmed in Sydney and has a $150 million budget, which is not nearly as frugal as I thought this might project may be, and I’m most pleased as I hope they – like the the animated movie reportedly will be – will finally take a major damn superhero movie out into space.
It’s bad enough we keep bitching Superman with what amounts to being outlandish real estate schemes, so let’s make this cosmic fellas. There has been no shortage of interest or at least speculation on a possible lead in the movie either, ranging from Chris Pine and Brian Austin Green. As I’ve noted before, some of the best super hero comic storytelling recently has been going on in the two Green Lantern titles over the last couple of years.
This film has a tentative 2010 release date.
