It is being reported (THR) that NBC has renewed “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit” as the Wolf Films Production will be returning for an 11th season. The real information that people are waiting for though is is Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Melonie are coming along with the show.
Well it seems we will be waiting a bit longer for that news and they still have no deals, and only started talking to the network last week. My question is are they typecast already? It is not like they have been blowing up the movie world, so if they do not return are they banking on something else? I would think in this day and age a regular paycheck is nice.

Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay might not be “blowing up the movie world”, as you put it, but they’re the reason a huge portion of SVU’s audience tunes in every week to watch the show. SVU is NBC’s highest rated tv show, and if they go, so will about half the audience, before the new season with new stars even begins. After a decade, they’re the show’s identity, and it’s a lousy time for a retool. Under these circumstances, it’d be really stupid of NBC not to give Hargitay and Meloni what they want – which, according to EW, is back-end profits.
Yeah I didnt mean it that sense, what I was saying is that since they are not doing a ton of movies why would “they” (Chris and Mariska) even want to try and do something else. I agree and NBC should do something to keep them on the show. I just dont know how much of bargaining tool Chris and Mariska have if they do not have other huge options on the table either.
