Shane Acker’s ’9′ was an Academy Award nominated short film that is getting expanded into a feature to be released later this year. It features voice-work by Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Crispin Glover, Martin Landau, and Christopher Plummer – and by the looks of this clip, it looks like it may be pretty sweet.

I’m continually impressed at everything animated I run into these days. It’s impressive what can come from a wide variety of budgets from Disney/Pixar to someone’s garage with a hot-wired Commordore 64.
In the latter case, such as Letters from a Distant Star?
PS if you haven’t seen that you should check it out, it was really well done and a cool story.
It’s kind of weird to me how much nostalgia I have for the old hand-drawn animation, but only for certain types of stories. Like Disney fairy tales. I’m happy their new feature (set in nola) will go back to that.
Old school Disney is just timeless. Groundbreaking and enduring.
