Yeah, I know they are already on DVD, but man if you were like me (a bit younger) when these things started hitting the stores, did you notice how damn expensive O.G. (known by others as Gen 1) Transformers seasons were? I know that these days a lot of people just rip them, but at that time it wasn’t a possibility (or at least nearly as accessible/regular) and you kind of got in your mind that you were going to spend a bundle to watch ’80s cartoons again.
THR is reporting that Shout Factory! has just agreed to a deal with Hasbro to “bring to DVD several animated properties based on the company’s toy lines.”. Reportedly, this includes ’80s Transformers and G.I. Joe – what I call the Golden Age of (cool) children’s television. The first release will be called The Transformers: The Complete First Season — 25th Anniversary Edition – which will be a 3-disc set for $29.99 (not sure if that will be the Amazon discounted price or not). That sounds reasonable if you have issues with being a crook (not that there is anything wrong with that – though if you work for Fox News, I wouldn’t recommend it). This is set to be released on June 16th.
Also included (and noted specifically) are the rights to make the My Little Pony: Twinkle Wish Adventure direct to DVD movie.
Sounds Awesome! Roll out and Yo Joe!
