“The Heartbreakers”, a popular young adult novel geared towards girls will be developed by United Artists as it has acquired the rights (As reported by THR). The new name will be “Rules of Dating for Teenage Girls”. It is all based on the books written by Pamela Wells, who brought us “The Heartbreakers” in the fall of 2007 and “Crushes” in 2008.
The short take on the books are about young girls dating obviously, but more than that, they make up codes and rules for breaking up, and crushing. It follows the girls during the ins and outs of dating and who you can date, who you should date, and how that affects your friendships. A coming of age type story in an age for the powerful tween and young teen girl segment.
Jennifer Ross, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Adelaide Scardino are all names that are being tossed around to write and produce the show.
With everything that is going really doing real money now, this is a project that is a no brainer. As long as they can get it out the door soon enough it should make oodles of money regardless of the quality.
