“TWC’s rights to produce sequels to Sin City remain intact as they always have been. Any suggestion to the contrary is complete hogwash.”

This explains quite a bit, as doesn’t it seem like forever since we saw the original, especially considering when there is so much raw material to draw from for screenplay/premise purposes?
IESB is reporting that the Weinstein Company has lost the rights to Frank Miller/Robert Rodriguez sequel to the 2005 film. It’s being reported that Trouble Maker Studios (Rodriguez) will still be producing the film. The article also states that this may just be the most recent fallout in several strained relationships involving The Weinstein Company.
