How awesome is it? I bought a copy, and I don’t buy new/modern books (though I do collect older first prints). Lots of adjectives, blurbage, and gushing on the net, but the bottom line for me is does a writer consistently write fiction that’s worth my loot? Jeff is, and goes beyond that by being an author who makes it harder for the rest of the pack by busting the curve.

Jeff VanderMeer is the author of awesomeness that goes by names that include Shriek: an Afterword (one of my favorites of the last several years) City of Saints and Madmen. His Secret Life is an all time favorite collection of mine. He is a two-time winner of the World Fantasy Award, and a finalist for the Hugo Award, the Philip K. Dick Award, the International Horror Guild Award, the British Fantasy Award, the Bram Stoker Award, and the Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award. His next novel, Finch, is high on the 2009 want lists of people who know what the hell they are talking about regarding fiction.
