Over at his (not a) blog, George R.R. Martin has announced some Wild Cards related news. Wild Cards is a very interesting property with almost unlimited potential and it’s one of those that I always look at and see if it will ever make interesting moves. I’ve always felt that it was simultaneously an underrated and untapped property (to its potential).
While Martin was sure to add the disclaimer “Nothing is set in stone yet”, it looks like Tor will be republishing the original Wild Cards material due to the success of the new recently published new stories. They will begin with the first three, Wild Cards, Aces High, and Joker’s Wild, and be what Martin is calling “the director’s cut” and will be “fortified and expanded with original content, extra fiber.” It will also include and three new stories:
Michael Cassutt will take us back to 1956 with, “Captain Cathode v the Secret Ace,”
David D. Levine will visit 1960, to tell us about “Powers,” and,
Carrie Vaughn will show us 1981, as “Ghost Girl Takes Manhattan.”
Potential release date was described as “some time in 2010″.
