I just twittered this:
RIP Wayne Allwine. My generation’s Mickey Mouse – thanks for that. Doesn’t get much realer than that – Jay
… and just felt this should be noted at our humble site. When you are Mickey from ’77 on, that means you were Mickey in Mickey’s Christmas Carol which is one of those things – for me – that’s so ingrained into us, we never cite them when considering our childhood gems. We think external on those occasions. I’m a Disney soul.
How deep was Allwine? He was married to Minnie Mouse – Russi Taylor. Check out this video I found on youtube:
Wayne Allwine passed away on the 18th of this month. He was the third voice of Mickey (the first being Walt himself).
Best wishes to his family, you will be missed be missed by more members than you probably knew you had.

Yeah I think sometimes people forget about what animation/movie changing early Disney work was. Before the parks there was just the mouse.
Sad day, indeed.
Talk about being ingrained, when I was about 7, I had one of those little Golden Books, something about Mickey and the gang going on a picnic, and my dad took a coulple of sheets of my construction paper and drew one picture of Mickey and one of Donald based on scenes in the book, but in the speaking bubbles, he, of course, put my name. I then colored them in with crayons.
I’ll be 45 this year, and those two pictures are matted, framed and hanging in my kitchen. They never fail to get comments from new visitors.
I can’t really even begin, but I guess I could just start by saying that I was literally born in the shadow of Disneyland. ALong with Doraemon my earliest tv memory is watching Mickey’s Trailer:

I used to watch that all the time!
Sundays were Disney movie nights on TV (when movies on TV were a big deal).
