I saw news for this movie up a few days ago and kind of passed on it (even with a nice cast) as I’m just sick of this post-apocalyptic fad. I demand stories of the pre-apocalypse damn it! Now though they’ve come out with some slick promo stills from the movie and I can’t resist.

The cast includes Ray Stevenson, Jaime King, Stephen Moyer, Robert Duvall and James Caan. Likw I said, a damn nice cast. It’s directed and produced by Philippe Martinez.
Synopsis (via THR):
“October” is set in a future in which New York has become surrounded by an endless desert plagued by heat storms, and the city’s technology is such that nothing made after 1960 works any more. In this environment, a detective (Stevenson) goes after a Mafia don (Caan) who is going after the remnants of the NYPD, led by Duvall. The detective is simultaneously searching for the love of his life (King). Moyer plays a cynical and street-smart detective.

Thank you, Jay! Finally, someone else is tired of the apocalypse themed movies, and books, even.
Where has good writing and storytelling gone, replaced by loads of bullets and high body counts? I long for the 90′s style writing of yore.
I am looking forward to this movie for one reason, Ray Stevenson. the rest of the cast is wonderful. They are a big draw, as well. Ray is a fine actor and is just now getting the recognition he deserves. But, he would fare better in a movie that showcases his way with words, not weapons.
I loved everyone front he old Rome cast (pretty much all were accomplished before even doing that) including Stevenson.
I think the movie looks pretty interesting actually.
