Love seeing comics getting mainstream news coverage, and Marvel has been the master at that games over the last couple of years (relative to their competition). When I see places like CNN talking Steve Rogers it gets this lifetime fan pumped! Several sources outlets are reporting the return of Steve Rogers is coming in Captain America Reborn.
Marvel Editor-in-Chief (and former Ninjak artist) Joe Quesada told this to the Daily News:
The original Captain America is finally coming back,”
“We’ve been patiently planning for this moment for 2 1/2 years.”
In July’s Captain America: Reborn, a 5-issues miniseries, we will see the return of Steve Rogers–a story that’s hinted at in Captain America#600 (in stores today). The exact nature of the return is still unknown, but Tom Brevoort (an editor at Marvel) told Newsarama:
The mechanism for Cap’s return was planted in plain sight, especially if you’d been reading the series before #25.
This is actually perfect timing because though Brubaker’s run on the title – a lot of which is without Steve Rogers – unequivocally ranks among the greatest with that character ever it is starting to show the initial signs of running out of steam. Don’t get it twisted, it’s still an outstanding book, but I have felt it was losing a bit of its edge. In the end, though he’s grabbing headlines for Cap, Brubaker’s legacy is the nothing short than the masterful trick of bringing back Bucky and arguably making a title starring him the best single-character title at Marvel over the last couple of years (Daredevil has had a lot of quality over the several years–including Brubaker’s on work on that character).
