Ian Cameron Esslemont’s Night of Knives was republished by Tor last month (having come out a couple years ago originally). It is Esslemont’s initial effort into the setting previously defined via Steven Erikson’s novels (and novellas) via his Malazan Book of the Fallen sequence. Synopsis:
It gave the Empire its name, but the tiny island and city of Malaz is now a sleepy, seedy back-water port. However this night things are a little different.
