Review – Merlin: The Mark of Nimueh (1.3)

Camelot suffers an epidemic after the water supply is poisoned by an unknown but beautiful sorceress. Gwen’s father falls ill and despite Gaius’s warnings, Merlin uses his powers to cure Gewn’s father. Which only gets Gwen accused of being sorceress seeking to spread the disease throughout the kingdom. To stop her execution, Merlin must seek Arthur’s help and once again use his magic without being discovered. merlin113

The villain has appeared and her name is Nimueh, and she is one good-looking evil doer. How Uther and Gaius know this sorceress is still a mystery along with why she has it in for Camelot. The relationship between characters is growing and the plot use of Merlin’s supposed relationship with Gwen was a good twist in the story. It would seem that soon Merlin just might have to reveal his magical ability to Arthur, but the writers might be able to hold it away a bit more with creativity.

I am truly enjoying this show and I like that Nimueh is the villain. Who really saw that coming? She is a controversial character from the myth, but now she is wreaking some havoc, did I mention that she is gorgeous, even Merlin was captivated by her in the episode.  The only complaint I seem to have right now is that NBC, is dropping two episodes every Sunday. That may seem great but Merlin could be over in the blink of an eye. I really hope NBC is not using Merlin as filler ‘TV”. That would not be cool.

Merlin is a great fantasy show, something that has been missing from prime time for some time. The larger plot of this show is beginning to pick up and I would have to say it is getting ready to cast one wicked spell on its viewers. Let us hope we get to see more of Merlin, once season one ends.
