Man, it seems like I’m noting too many of these this year. The twitterverse (most prominently by the SFWA) is reporting that author David Eddings has passed away. I haven’t been able to get confirmation at a ‘proper’ news source, but if this is true, let’s not get it twisted, he is one of the authors who brought epic fantasy back into the spotlight and did so in numbers that allowed for a new base of fans to be developed, and for later creators to evolve. If it wasn’t Brook’s Shannara it was Eddings’ Belgariad that you hear so many people say that brought them into this game.
(edit)
SFSignal is noting it as well though they cite the same source.
Heather Cromar is perhaps saying she’s heard directly from her friend, the sister-in-law of Eddings? This was tweeted before the other ‘reports’.

Man I really liked Eddings stuff when I was younger and was one of those authors that I was always looking for new books on the shelf. You know before the internet age when you knew when books were coming out.
RIP
