A couple days ago the first images for the rather odd looking Drew Barrymore Whip It! hit the web and were the subject of what I thought was a bit of over inflated enthusiasm (I’ve included the images below as well), but now after watching the trailer, I’m kind of feeling it.
Whip It! not only stars Barrymore but is also her directorial debut. Now check this out; this site used to be called Fantasybookspot. What that means is that we all love Drew Barrymore and have since ’82. You throw her in any role that looks like a sappy coming of age story and we will say we like it if we don’t. I usually am against the uglying up of good looking (when I was younger that was grunge-though in some cases it was the the continued ugliness of the already ugly), and I hate to make a lot about a trailer, but looks like a sweet movie.
Here are the images that came out about a week or so ago:

Synopsis:
Groomed for local beauty pageants by ambitious and haughty mother, Bliss has no clue where her life is going. But, that’s all is about to change. One day, she discovers an underworld roller derby league. Impressed by what she is seeing, the misfit 17-year-old girl then tries out to join a team named the Hurl Scouts under the name of Babe Ruthless and finds her true self along the way.
Along with Barrymore, Whip It! includes Ellen Page, Kristen Wiig, Juliette Lewis, Marcia Gay Harden and Jimmy Fallon. It will be in theaters on October 9th.

This is based on a YA book, Derby Girl, by Shauna Cross, which was a quick and fun read. When I was reading it, it seemed like good movie material. Think Nick and Norah.
good info, I didn’t know that!
Looks like a fun night out at the movies to me!
