A bit late on this but Chris Roberson has always been cool people (and a talented writer) and Mike Allred is simply one of my favorite comic creators ever. A couple days ago it was announced that the two would be collaborating on a new series for DC’s Vertigo imprint. Anything the creator of Madman does gets on the Tomio Want List.
Announced by Vertigo, I, ZOMBIE described as:
story of Gwendolyn “Gwen” Dylan, zombie girl detective. Think graveyards, ghosts, vampires and werewolves with a twist.
It’s like the world has decided, “Tomio, you will read zombies, and like it!” What’s next? An Alan Moore and James Jean zombie maxiseries? A China Mieville Zombies Take Bas-Lag novel? A Jeff VanderMeer Zombiebusters of Ambergris?
Those familiar with BSCreview are aware of Roberson, the talented author of novels that includes Here There and Everywhere, Paragaea: A Planetary Romance and the Celestial Empire books (he also did a piece for us in Heliotrope). In the past I’ve interviewed Roberson beat style about his Fables spin-off project, Cinderella: From Fabletown with Love. You can also get a sample of his writing here at BSC, as we have the first three chapters of his The Dragon’s Nine Sons. Dude is nice, and I’ve been saying for years on various comic boards I’m on that this guy is perfect for comics.
Allred is the creator of Madman, which simply stated, is one of great comic book characters of all time and one of the finest artist in the field, and has been for around 2 decades now. Read Madman Atomic Comics and get learned people!
I’ve said it as recently as when speaking on the Palmiotti and Gray project, The Last Resort, I’m not too keen on this Zombie fad, but with this group, I’m in.
More info is expected to be forthcoming at SDCC.

- Jay Tomio
Jan-ken-pon is the time traveling, force-walking, multiverse crossing column of Jay Tomio, owner of 1/3 of everything you see currently on screen, and the editor of Heliotrope. Some call him the Bodhisattva.

NO ZOMBIES IN AMBERGRIS. NO ZOMBIES EVER. I start anti-zombie revolution now…erm, while eagerly buying Roberson’s new series…
I’m moving to Ambergris!
…as long as there is an LCS with Roberson Zombie comics!
