Natalie Portman Cast in Thor
Looks like Nikki Finke was 3 for 3 as she called this awhile back ago along with breaking the other two main roles of Thor and the classic antagonist Loki.
Portman joins Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and will play the role of Jane Foster. Foster goes back to very time we ever saw the God of Thunder himself, debuting in 1962 in Journey of Mystery#83! I guess now we will see if the Biel rumors still come true as her name has been thrown around for a role.
I don’t really have to tell people who Portman is right? I do wonder if this is bad news for Aronofsky’s Black Swan though, but it’s hard for me not be pleased as a comic fan.
Film synopsis:
Marvel Studios expands its film universe with a new type of superhero: Thor. This epic adventure spans the Marvel Universe; from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
Thor is going to be directed by Kenneth Branagh and will be released in the U.S. on May 20, 2011 and distributed by Paramount Pictures.
