In April we noted the casting of Jamie Chung and Jena Malone to join the already signed on Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens and Abbie Cornish for Zach Snyder’s (300, Watchmen) next film Sucker Punch. Carla Gugino now also reunites with Snyder in the film.
Gugino was in Snyder’s Watchmen (as Sally Jupiter–the O.G. Silk Spectre) and will play a role of “a nurse in the insane asylum who becomes a madam at a brothel in the film’s alternate reality“. Gugino has been in several films and shows, but most memorable (for me ) may be Sin City or in Entourage.
Sucker Punch synopsis:
Set in the 1950s, SuckerPunch follows Babydoll (Emily Browning) who is confined to a mental institution by her stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. While there, she imagines an alternative reality to hide her from the pain, and in that world, she begins planning her escape, needing to steal five objects to help get her out before she is deflowered by a vile man.
Sucker Punch is targeting a March 2011 release.
