In preparation (and promotion) of their Vampire Diaries adaptation, CW is releasing a series of webisodes under the title of A Darker Truth. We’ve previously posted a promo earlier this month, a trailer and image gallery, and an extended preview video.
You have a Jason in fiction and we are going to note it here, and I think one of our contributors, Elena, is fan of the books, so maybe she can give us some kind relevant feedback if this ties into the publishing mythos/timeline.
Vampire Diaries is set to show on Thursdays at 8pm starting on September 10th. It stars Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, and Ian Somerhalder. The show is written and produced by Kevin Williamson, who was behind the writing of Dawson’s Creek, Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and based on the novels of L.J. Smith.

Yes, I am a fan of the books. I’m planning to watch (and give my thoughts on) at least the first few episodes and see if the CW can hook me on the show, regardless of how faithful an adaptation it is.
I have tried not to look at too much promo stuff…I really want to go in with an open mind, which the casting alone started to close. But I watched this to see what they did. Interesting webisode, but it has nothing to do with the mythos from the books. There IS a vampire hunter of sorts who shows up in the 4th book, but he hasn’t been tracking Stefan. This character doesn’t necessarily subvert the books’ events, though…depends on where it goes.
