TVGuide is reporting that Elizabeth Banks is joining the cast of ABC’s upcoming Modern Family, which has been getting some good critical buzz.
Show producer Christopher Lloyd (in his own words) described Bank’s role as “the fag hag” friend of gay couple Mitchell and Camero. it is a possibly recurring role and the initial appearance by Banks will likely be in October.
Elizabeth Banks played Betty Bryant in the Spider-Man films, Laura Bush in W, starred in Zack and Miri Make a Porno, was in The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Invincible (not the sweet cartoon, but the Wahlberg flick), among several other roles. Frankly, I find it hard not to like Banks.
In May it was announced that Modern Family was picked up by ABC for 13 episodes and was described as a single-camera mockumentary about three suburban couples — traditional, gay and multiethnic.
