I keep telling people we are taking over (a deception because we already have)! In what seems a Japanese theme week at the BSC, adding to the week’s infiltration of Scorsese and Swierczynski, we have new Lost (almost as awesome as Nippon itself) cast member in the form of Hiroyuki Sanada.
EW is reporting that Hiroyuki Sanada is set to appear in the final season of ABC’s Lost. I know a lot of people think Japanese acting ends with Toshirō Mifune, or may even allow Ken Watanabe, but Hiroyuki Sanada is a damn huge figure in Japanese cinema. U.S. viewers may remember him a the asskicker in The Last Samurai m and you may have seen in the fine ensemble in Sunshine (as Kaneda).
Let me just say this: you must, MUST see The Twilight Samurai, a Yoji Yamada film, which he stars in. The report by EW states no details have been revealed about either the role or for how many episodes his stint will last.
Earlier, we reported that Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet) and Dominic Monaghan (Charlie), and just a couple days ago noted the addition of John Hawkes (formerly of Deadwood) to the cast.
Man, I’m going to miss Lost.

I can’t believe he is on the cast of LOST.
I am a bit torn to be happy about it or not…:)
I loved twilight samurai…Sanada is a very talented and trained actor.
He has been studying the way of sword for many many years and it shows.
I love Mifune and Sanada..
