Big fan of Jon Foster, so when I saw Cherie Priest mention these, I asked Irene Gallo (the Tor art warlord) if we could redisplay them here. She proved strong but finally gave in when I pointed the BSC-Deathstar at Tor HQ (or she simply said yes–I ain’t tellin’).
These are sketches for covers by Foster that were considered for the cover of Priest’s upcoming novel, Boneshaker (which is set to be published by Tor in September). Book and comic book readers are probably familiar with Foster’s covers, the former probably being most recently exposed his covers on Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn series (which I’m guessing was under Gallo’s direction as well). They ended up going with the third for reasons Gallo rather easily points out (though all three are damn cool).
If I was being completely honest, this book wasn’t on my radar (which I think means there is some breakdown somewhere), but even as somebody who’d claim to very much being an existing fan of Cherie Priest, Boneshakers looks to conceptually be her most interesting project to date from my standpoint. It’s the first of her Clockwork Century books, which you can read more about at the site dedicated to the line.

gorgeous!
I actually like the first two better. Boy, Tor does some nice art.
Yeah, I just finished the Daniel Abraham series, and I love the covers on all of them. I know John C. Wright is on the shit list for some, but the covers on his books are beautiful to, and you can kind of just go down the Tor line.
There are (usually paperback) exceptions, but for the most part Tor problem isn’t covers.
