Last week we reported that the always welcome presence of Maggie Q would be joining Paul Bettany in Priest, an adaptation of a horror/western TokyoPop comic helmed by Scott Stewart.
Urban seems set to play the antagonist of the film, Black Hat, described in the THR report as, “the evil leader of the bloodsuckers who was once a priest and hunter but now fancies himself a god of vampires.” Urban is no stranger to speculative fiction, having just been in the Abrams Star Trek film (as Bones) and of course being Eomer in the Two Towers and Return of the King. He was also prominent in The Chronicles of Riddick, which I know a lot of people don’t dig, but I think it and Pitch Black are a lot of fun.
Film Synopsis:
…set in a world ravaged by war between man and vampires. Paul Betany stars as a warrior priest and vampire fighter who teams with a sheriff (Cam Gigandet) and warrior priestess (Maggie Q) to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece.
Don’t get confused with the film as Stewart and Bettany are also working on Legion another film that’s apparently about supernatural asskickery (if Urban gets cast in that, then we can be confused).
