Yesterday Sci Fi Wire debuted the trailer for Universal’s The Fourth Kind, a film being called a fact based or reality mystery/thriller that stars Milla Jovovich. Recently the word of her being in (or not) another Resident Evil film has been topical, and I don’t really know why as I’m not sure I could call any of them emphatically ‘good’, as the draw is Jovovich herself and she can do other films just fine, though they do seem to kind of blend in together don’t they? This film seems a little different, even if the role doesn’t seem too far off (which seems odd considering the very unrealistic nature of many of her roles). That’s not at all a complaint, I love the girl, and remember how in the ’90s her presence coined the phrase “that fifth element girl is hot” on the street.
Now I have to take a step back. It definitely seems pretty tense in those clips and may be able offer something beyond the eternal fandom we offer Jovovich because of The Fifth Element. She will be playing the role of a psychologist, and actually calls the film a “a dramatization of events that occurred October 2000″.
Film Synopsis:
The fourth kind is one of the terms established in 1972 to describe the scale of measurement for alien encounters. When a UFO is sighted, it is referred as the first kind. The second kind is known when evidence is collected, and the third kind is for the time contact is made with extraterrestrials. The next level, the fourth kind, is when an abduction takes place. This last encounter has been the most difficult to document until psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler comes to Nome, Alaska.
In the remote region where a disproportionate number of the population has been reported missing every year, Tyler tries to uncover the truth behind the mystery when multiple FBI investigations of the region fail to unravel the truth. Videotaping sessions with traumatized patients, she soon unwittingly discovers some of the most disturbing evidence of alien abduction ever documented.
Integrating never-before-seen archival footage, “The Fourth Kind” exposes the terrified revelations of multiple witnesses and investigates the validity of their alien visit accounts.
The Fourth Kind is scheduled to theaters on November 6th.
