SyFy has released a new poster for Stargate: Universe, the forthcoming next chapter to the Stargate franchise. The end of July brought us a new trailer and some other posters for SGU, and this is a rather fresh look as we get closer to the premier.

I am not an avid follower of the Stargate franchise (I thought the concept was interesting, but had reached its conclusion with the film–I tried Atlantis on multiple occasions, but I thought it was kind of uneventful) but that looks like a fresh new stargate design in the poster.
Synopsis:
Stargate Universe follows the adventures of a present-day, multinational exploration team on board the ancient spaceship Destiny, which is locked on an unknown course and unable to return to Earth. Faced with meeting the most basic needs of food, water and air, the group must unlock the secrets of the ship’s stargate to survive.
Stargate: Universe stars Robert Carlyle, Justin Louis, David Blue, Brian J. Smith , Jamil Walker Smith, Alaina Huffman, and Elyse Levesque, and is set to debut on October 2nd on SyFy as a two-hour movie to kick off the series. The show will be complimented by a series of webisodes that as of yet have no release date announced.

Not certain what the blue and white structure behind the characters is — it looks like part of the internal structure of one of the SGC’s Daedalus-class ships — but it’s not a new Stargate design; the new gate (actually supposedly a much *older* version than we’re used to) looks pretty much gate-ish, with some minor changes to the overall look.
Have to smirk a bit at the decolletage displayed by the ships’ medic in the background — definitely not regulation Air Force.
Cool – thanks for the info! I’m hoping for some kind of new-viewer friendly launch point with this (seems like this is what the creators are promising–but then again they wouldn’t really say it wasn’t ).
