The other day I said it was a week of high profile posturing (Futurama, Rachel and Summit, etc) across the entertainment landscape and now it looks like one of the most popular shows on television has let go one of their judges.

In a week that it was announced that Kara DioGuardi (who for some reason I just dig, excluding when she goes crazy with the hair) has been resigned to the show, we see what looks like the exit of Abdul (or a big publicity stunt). I know a lot of people have more heated commentary about Abdul, but I grew up when she was actually a pop star so I kind of remember her for that more than being a semi-lucid judge. Honestly I always thought the writing was on the wall when Kara was brought in, and sealed after doing a reasonably good ‘job’.
This is what Abdul said via twitter:
With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to #IDOL. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all..Cont’d…
I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day1become an international phenomenon.
What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me
It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month
American Idol is set to return for its ninth season in 2010.
