April brought us our first looks at Peter Jackson’s next project (as a director – he produced District 9). There has been an EW ‘teaser for a trailer’ which is just going too far for me, but now the full trailer has been released by Dreamworks.
It’s hard to tell from a trailer, but you know how see a trailer and can tell that no matter how good the film is, that the child actor is just going to ruin the film (Jaden Smith)? No issue with that with Saoirse Ronan (who was bad ass in Atonement). I recently bought The Lovely Bones (by Alice Sebold) to reread. Or, you put Rachel Weisz in a movie and I’m there. I think this looks rather good.
The Lovely Bones stars Saoirse Ronan, Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci and Michael Imperioli. The Lovely Bones hits theaters on December 11, 2009.
Film Synopsis:
Based on the critically acclaimed best-selling novel by Alice Sebold, and directed by Oscar® winner Peter Jackson from a screenplay by Jackson & Fran Walsh & Philippa Boyens, “The Lovely Bones” centers on a young girl who has been murdered and watches over her family – and her killer – from heaven. She must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal. Oscar® nominee Mark Wahlberg and Oscar® winners Rachel Weisz and Susan Sarandon star along with Stanley Tucci, Michael Imperioli and Oscar® nominee Saoirse Rona

This book wasn’t one of my personal favorites – but I do like Ronan and Wahlberg (love Marky Mark!) so I’ll have to have a look at this one.
