At the Fellowship of the Sun, Steve and his flock are preparing for their self made vampire Armageddon. Eric in attempt to save both Godric and Sookie is almost Steve’s first sacrifice. He is saved however by the combined efforts of Bill, Godric, Jason, and the rest of the Texas vampires.Godric spares Steve and his flock in an attempt to bring about peace.
Meanwhile, back at Bon Temps, Maryann is up no good again. She begins by framing Sam for Daphne’s murder and then feeds her heart baked in a hunter’s pie to Eggs and Tara, who upon eating it go into a strange sexual rage. Back at the Texas vampire nest, Lorena shows up and starts trouble with Sookie and she is asked to leave by Godric. While Bill is escorting her out, one of Steve’s disciples infiltrates the nest and actives a bomb on his chest surrounded by silver chains, and this episode fades to credits.
The Bon Temps crew in Texas might still have a few things to wrap up before heading home thanks to the suicide bomber. Sam, who is currently in jail, may have a hard time keeping Maryann at bay for much longer. All this violence and intrigue does not stop Hoyt and Jessica from finding love and making the best of their strange relationship. We find out that due to her vampire healing ability Jessica will always be a virgin, how this will affect her sexual relationship is still undetermined. I would think she is not the first to experience this issue so I am curious to see what another vampire has to say on the matter. I am pleased with the writers trying to show us a bit of young vampire love among all the lust and murder going on this season. I am quite curious to see how their relationship will tie in with the overall plot. I am sure their fight for love has only just begun and there is still the matter of Hoyt’s overbearing mother.
This week we got to see how Godric, an old vampire, longs to be at peace with humans, and how a vampire like the vicious Lorena has no desire for peace at all. Sure we have seen Bill tell Sookie how he longs to fit in and not be considered a monster. Godric however is looking at the overall problem beyond his own skin. I personally think he is being setup for some kind of martyr role by the writers very soon. I am not so sure Godric’s sacrifice will end human/vampire tensions in the world of True Blood, as we all know fear is a powerful weapon. I really enjoyed a look inside of Godric’s nest and how power is handled by vampire sheriffs. Maryann’s crazed behavior only makes me wish someone would just do away with her. The storyline this week only further emphasized her sadistic godlike power, but what is driving me crazy is that she playing games with Sam right after she just tried to sacrifice him. I am not sure where the writers are going with this, but please do go somewhere meaningful.
True Blood is on a roll and looks like things are only going get better. The events in Texas are waning down, but I am sure the vampire/human war is not over yet. Someone needs to do something about Maryann, before she destroys Bon Temp and Sam Merlotte. Eric’s apparent “thing” for Sookie does not appear to have reached its end, so I would say we have not seen the last of his ploys to get her attention. Why did Godrick kill Gabe if he is so interested in peace between humans and vampires? It struck me as odd that Gabe’s last words were, “Its me.”
I would think Gabe’s despicable actions caused Godric to act and save Sookie rather than consider his current social views. However there may be something not yet revealed about Gabe and Godric’s relationship. Perhaps there is more to Godric’s capture and imprisonment than we have seen thus far. Maybe the answer we are looking for is in an upcoming episode.
