Since I could not get to the Television Critics Association tour I will have to live it vicariously through the rest of the people. Tvsquad.com gives us some information on Sesame Street 40th Anniversary Season and I wanted to talk a bit about it.
According to Miranda Barry, of the Sesame Workshop, the show will be doing a parody of Mad Men during the 40th Season. I am hoping that they can top the 30 Rock parody they did a while back, as that was one of the funniest ones I had seen in a while. They seem to be able to pull it off so that the children enjoy it while the adults are laughing out loud if they have seen the show that is being parodied.
It looks like they will be changing to a new segmented format that has a new host, Murray Muppet. Sesame Street will also be jumping into a bit of CGI in a new segment that features Abby Cadabby. There will be a new emphasis on science and nature along with the regular educational programming we come to expect. Since I have recently watched the show since I have two young children I think this change may be refreshing. Especially for the parents, who if you have multiple children have been watching the same format and characters over and over. Murray Muppet really has to be good to pull it off though, and lovable, but Sesame Street is known for being able to do such things very well. Let us hope that the CGI is also well done and not cheesy, cause if I have another kid I do not want to be subjected to bad CGI.
