Variety is reporting that Dreamworks has cast Will Ferrell to replace Robert Downey Jr. in Oobermind, due to a scheduling conflict (getting his Vampire on?), and has added Brad Pitt & Jonah Hil to the voice cast.

Film Synopsis:
When super villain Oobermind defeats his archrival Metro Man, the world should be his oyster. But instead, Oobermind falls into total despair. It turns out that life without a rival is life without a point for him. So he creates a new superhero rival. Unfortunately, the new hero wants to be a super villain too. Who can we turn to? Who has what it takes to stand up to this menace? Who will defend the innocent? Oobermind! That’s who.
Oobermind is a superhero comedy being produced by Ben Stiller, written by Alan J. Schoolcraft and Brent Simons, and directed by Tom McGrath set to be released on November 5th 2009. The new additions join the already announced Tina Fey.

How is this still being produced by Ben Stiller? He is Filming The Little Fockers soon and finishing up on another film. I guess if you like producers who aren’t there? Little Fockers is being filmed in Chicago. Ben was also supposed to voice a character himself? I guess that part isn’t true either. Also he begins producing his new sitcom for Fox at the end of August for the new September television season. How is he producing this? There has to be someone else producing-another 2 web sites list two women producers doing the film for Dreamworks? What’s the real story? I am sorry that Will Ferrell got the lead though. I just can’t stand his voice it goes right through me. Bad choice for replacement lead-his movies are doing terrible right now. The movie he directed-The Goods-is tanking too. I would’ve bet on a different person if I wanted to make some money on this.
Perhaps Stiller is just putting his name behind it and Lara Breay and Denise Nolan Cascino are doing the heavy lifting? I also read that Stiller was doing a character (but for the original Supermind) and he doesn’t seem to be mentioned at all in that regard.
I’m also trying to remember another film he was attached to (I think to direct) that I heard on a podcast recently. It actually sounded interesting. Damn Mondays…
Thankyou Jay that does help me some. I know Red Hour films also left Dreamworks lately. I wasn’t sure if Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfield had just signed over the rights to the movie, just so they could move on. I know they are with Fox now. Stuart was supposed to produce also? It’s all kind of confusing. I know RDJ promised Ben Stiller he’d do the movie because they are friends and they wanted to work together again. Ben left do to scheduling conflicts first and was replaced by Will Ferrell. RDJ then signed on to do Due Date which is filming in Arizona and Alabama – that’s probably his scheduling conflict.(I guess he’d have to fly back and forth everyday??)
