Julian Sands is Jor-El in Smallville

Smallville has found its Jor-El, and just in time as the ninth season of Smallville is set to start in two weeks, on Friday, September 25th. EW is reporting that Julian Sands will take on the role of the father of CW’s Superman/Clark.

The report indicates that Sands is committed to one episode, which is titled Kandor, and will air in November. Previously, Welling himself had play the role of the younger Jor-El. The voice of Jor-El in the previous episodes has been that of Terrence Stamp (Zod in the Reeves films. Sands has been in quite a bit, but most will probably remember him as Vladimir Bierko in 24 or from Warlock.

Sands is the most recent casting announcement for the next season of Smallville, joining Steph Song (Roulette), Monique Ganderton (Alia), Allison Scagliotti and David Gallagher (Wonder Twins), and Brian Austin Green (Metallo).  Last month, we also posted the trailer for the season, and CW’s Up to Speed feature, a nice little crash course to get you prepped for the season.
