BSCReview is proud to announce Elena as the head editor starting . . . now. Ok well really she started a few days ago. As we continue to make strides in traffic and content we felt it was necessary to bring you that content in the most professional manner that we could. So we tricked . . . I mean asked Elena and she accepted and glasses were raised high in the air to welcome a new dawn of the site. Elena had a few words to say as well.
You may by scratching your head right now, wondering Does BSCreview have an editor? Why didn’t I know this?
The answer would be: we didn’t. Until now.
Early in my acquaintance with Damon and Jay, I mentioned that I have ambitions toward editing as well as writing. Our site has hit the point in terms of bulk and traffic that an editor had begun to seem a rather glaring absence, so they turned to me with the all-important question: will you do it?
Sure, said. Actually, I think it was more like “hell, yes,” I said.
My role is still nascent, but certainly it will encompass proofreading and, well, editing all the non-news posts (reviews, interviews, articles, and so forth) around here, along with reviving our Synergy round-robin and writing the occasional column about what I’m doing as the editor. I plan to continue with my column of book and television reviews, and hopefully get some more exciting interviews for the fall.
A bit more about me, in terms of professional contexts: I have been fascinated for many years (pre-high school, at least) with the various aspects of English—reading, literary theory, writing, editing, etymology, linguistics, and historical manifestations of the language. I am a proud alumna of the University of Texas, where I majored in (what else?) English. My coursework had a dual emphasis on the late Neoclassical to early Romantic period and rhetoric & composition. Since graduating, I have worked as an itinerary editor for a travel agency, behind the scenes in a university library, and as the program manager for a small marketing company. I am a lifelong reader of speculative fiction, and I hope someday to publish my own.
In the meantime, I am very happy to be here sharing my thoughts and those of our other contributors about other people’s work with all of our readers.
Welcome to the new BSCreview—it’s my world, now.
So if you have any questions about the edited content for the site you can now email Elena at editor@bscreview.com
