In September we noted that Robert Redford had nabbed Robin Wright Penn & James McAvoy, and this month (via THR) brings us news that Justin Long has joined them in the period piece focusing on details about the Lincoln assassination.
According to the report, Long will portray a veteran who lost a limb in the Civil War is McAvoy’s (Frederick Aiken) “best friend and conscience”. The Conspirator begins filming this month.
Long has kind of made that transition where you know he’s sticking. I know some hate it, but I loved Waiting, and I enjoy that the many of the people in that film are still on screen (love John Francis Daley on Bones!) The guy has done the big action film with Bruce Willis, been in a ton of the teen/comedy films, and I think this will be an interesting role for him, under Redford’s direction.
