AS an Irishman I find this type of film deeply offensive. This movie seems as if it were set in a fictional Ireland of the 1930's rather than modern Ireland, a country that is among the world's richest and most advanced industrial societies. If you want to see a real Irish romantic comedy check out "About Adam", at least it is an accurate portrait of real Ireland.

I love Amy Adams, but I can't imagine this being much more than a formula rom-com. Oh well, I hope she makes a pile of money on it and goes back to picking more interesting parts in more interesting movies. (And what I wouldn't give to be wrong, and have this be good. But I'm not betting on it.)
