Perhaps specifically to remove himself from headlines and post titles like the one above, according to THR, Tennant’s made the move to NBC to the Rex Is Not Your Lawyer pilot, a new hour long drama.
The report indicates this synopsis:
…centers on Rex Alexander, a top Chicago litigator who begins suffering panic attacks and takes up coaching clients to represent themselves in court.
Tennant is slotted to play the titular character. I’m just not familiar enough with this version of Doctor Who (just started here) to call this. I know he’s often lauded as the best, but honestly that doesn’t say a whole hell of a lot to me, as I’ve never had more than a mild appreciation for the show (with him or not). On a rather base level, lately it seems like English, Australian, and Scottish actors seem to play Americans better than Americans.

Where are you located that you say that Doctor Who w/ DT just started showing there?
Certainly not the US because it’s been on Scifi (oh, excuse me SyFy) since 2005 when Chris Eccleston was in it. It’s only this year that BBCAmerica has taken it up because SciFi were diddling about showing the new episodes.
That being said, DT is *brilliant* and if the scripts are any good at all, he’ll do a bang-up job. Actually even if the scripts aren’t any good he’ll do a bang-up job, because that’s just who he is.
