We’ve been actually pulling back from contests at BSC, but I’m down with anything that allows us to talk Gardens of the Moon (review from waaay back), which has become one of those books that I have grown to love more and more because of some flaws that I initially held against it. I read books in the Malazan Book of the Fallen over and over and over, it’s just in constant rotation at the BSC seat of power. Fans of the series (who have read through Erikson’s Bonehunters and Esslemont’s Night of Knives) may want to check out an interview I conducted with Erikson from ’08, that’s a personal favorite of mine. This is where you see the battle for Pale, meet the Bridgeburners, and get introduced to what’s probably the series I’m most excited about now. Today, BSC has up for grabs 5 copies of the 10th Anniversary edition of Gardens of the Moon, published this month by Transworld.
Bled dry by interminable warfare, infighting and bloody confrontations with Lord Anomander Rake and his Tiste Andii, the vast, sprawling Malazan empire simmers with discontent. Even its imperial legions yearn for some respite. For Sergeant Whiskeyjack and his Bridgeburners and for Tattersail, sole surviving sorceress of the Second Legion, the aftermath of the siege of Pale should have been a time to mourn the dead. But Darujhistan, last of the Free Cities of Genabackis, still holds out – and Empress Lasseen’s ambition knows no bounds. However, it seems the empire is not alone in this great game. Sinister forces gather as the gods themselves prepare to play their hand…Conceived and written on an epic scale, Gardens of the Moon is a breathtaking achievement – a novel in which grand design, a dark and complex mythology, wild and wayward magic and a host of enduring characters combine with thrilling, powerful storytelling to resounding effect. Acclaimed by writers, critics and readers alike, here is the opening chapter in what has been hailed a landmark of epic fantasy: the awesome ‘The Malazan Book of the Fallen’.
This is where it all begins people! This is an especially great opportunity for U.S. readers who may not have a limited or foreign edition, to get a copy of this book without a hideous cover. This edition also also includes a foreword from Erikson.
This contest is open to all BSC readers, all you have to do is email us at contest@bscreview.com with Gardens of the Moon in the subject line. Please include your name and shipping information so that I can have the prize sent to you ASAP. You only need to send us one entry. Failure to adhere to any of the above disqualifies you from winning. I will announce winners on November 10th–all entries I get before the second I begin pulling winners from will be eligible.
We are also currently hosting a contest for some swag from the USA Network’s new show White Collar, so be sure to check that out as well!
Good luck!
