Undead labs is a studio that was founded by Jeff Strain who has worked for Blizzard and NCsoft. Jeff was also the co-founder of ArenaNet. They plan on making a new MMO with zombies. Right off the bat though I already want to bitch that they shooting for a console only game. I think anything that has MMO in its description needs to have a PC version, but that is just me.
“Every time I see a good zombie movie with friends, we spend days debating our strategies for surviving the zombie apocalypse,” said Strain. “The police station, or the supermarket? Garden rake, or staple gun? Bach, or the White Stripes? I’m a game developer, so I’d probably be useless for anything other than ghoul bait, but I’m excited to have the opportunity to build an MMOZ that lets us put those strategies to the test and find out for sure.”
The guy has assembled a team of developers that are going to make a game that a hundred other companies should have already put to market. The idea is just brilliant and I can see so many ways for it to work well. It almost fosters a community working against a zombie invasion right from the start. You have so many avenues open for different zones, you have government intervention, damn you pretty much got a movie in the form of a game. I think that is the key part, people can related to a zombie invasion on some level, as zombies are in the media so often. Good luck to Undead Labs and I look forward to seeing what they come up with. You know this going to have movie potential and a book deal at the end of the day if it does well.
