Disney options rights to Fallen novel

Medora was kind enough to point me in the direction of this news item and it was a tough call between BSCkids and this site, but in the end I felt it belonged here. Disney has optioned the rights to Lauren Kate’s young adult novel Fallen that heavily features angels. Some believe that vampires and werewolves are taking a back seat to the next trend which will be a slew of angel related books and movies. Disney looks to believe the same thing with this move.

Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray will produce the film and the book which was released by Delacorte Books is part of a four part series. Disney made sure to get all of them included in this deal, so that way if it takes off they are already wrapped up. The story is about a girl that is torn between two men, she is not aware of the fact that they have battled over her for many lifetimes and are fallen angles.

I do not know, when you start talking about angels you bring religion to the table, so you heard it here first, I do not think this next fad will be as big as vampires and werewolves.

Hi,
I was just curious about who they have in mind to play the main characters in the upcoming movie. I was also wondering if they are doing casting calls for less dominant characters that are still a major part of the story (ie: Arrianne). Location and dates and possible alternitives to actuall physical in person auditions (sample DVD perhaphs?) would also be helpful and extremly appreciated if this knowladge is out there somewhere.

I would like to know if they had any casting calls any where? I love acting and I love these books and I think it would b great to act in. When I read that Disney was gonna do this book into a movie I was really shocked becuase when I read this book(2times) it never came acroos to me as a Disney movie at all. I believe that they would have to take alot put of the book to barley make the Disney rating of PG and I feel that if they do that then the movie will be a big waste of time and money and would kind of be a disgrace to Lauren Kate herself, knowing that she put alot of work time and effort into this book that it won’t be at it’s full potental in the movie because it has to be within Disney guidelines. I don’t think Disney should do this movie at all but if it does come out as a movie for Disney I would prefer that they use fresher faces rather then the same people they use like Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato or Bridget Mendler. It’s not that I don’t like any of those people it’s just that I would prefer to see a new face. And beside I think the Disney girls (you could call them) have alot on their plates and I don’t think they have “IT” to play Luce because Luce isn’t like any other charater any of them had played before. I wouldn’t want them to mess up the movie. Beside who really wants to keep seeing their faces taking up all the movie rolls other young aspiring actress can play.

Hello!I was also curious about the casting calls.I’ve read the book and it was really a masterpiece i couldn’t stop reading it….I would love to be a part of this but unfortunately I am from Greece and I can see that it’s really hard for me here to attend but if there is a slightly chance for me to do it I am willing to take it.So let me know if any information comes up for requirements, time,dates,locations….and I’ll see what I can do….Thanks:)

I just can’t believe what I’m hearing now. It’s really awesome that they’re making a movie because I love the book. Although I do agree with KBeiber about Disney making the movie. Hey, and if you need someone to play Luce, Penn, or Arriane, call me.

I haven’t read Fallen but I know many people like or even love this story but I really think Disney would do a great job for they are well known and well”Pirates of the Carribean” is made by disney you are over looking the fact that they do not only produce fairy tales but adventures comedy love and I’m sure they can handle this…Good Luck Disney

So much so that I was wondering if anyone knew anything about open casting calls or locations, dates, times, anything? I really think it would be a great experience. Shit, I really started something didn’t I. LOL well I do hope that we all at least get a shot at an audition. Im in the same little boat as Lina from Greece given my current residential area being the South West Of Western Australia… NOTHING comes to or happens in W.A….. But if auditions come to Perth (super unlikely considering that if anything does come to Australia it makes a bee line for the EAST coast even though its widely know that all the good stuff is over west lol) then I id be there in jiffy ANYONE WHO CAN HELP ANY OF US (WHO ARE PROBABLY JUST AS GOOD IF NOT BETTER THAN THOSE LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE PICKED UP BY DISNEY ETC BUT JUST HAVENT BE “FOUND” YET) WITH SOME DETAILS WE WILL YOU LOVE FOREVER

I am also, along with all the others, interested in audition and casting info. I’m from New Zealand which I think is even more far away than greece or australia haha. I have just started these books and they are amazing! I would love to play any character in the movies. I’m 5’0” and small so I think I would suit the character of Penn, Molly or Arriane. Hi there,
I have read the first two books of this series and I love it so much. I realized that the main character is almost like me in some aspects. The story has really inspired me to write some more and, of course, it has respured my love for angels. I understand that disney has the rights to this… I really hope it doesn’t ruin it. This book series is a very good one, and should be created with amazing people, which I feel are the two producers that took to this. I am very interested in seeing about a casting call for this movie, I have a lot of acting experience and feel like I could fit into Lucinda Price like a hand to a glove. Please send me any information you may have and I would love to try out.

Hi! Like a lot of other commenters I’m interested to know the information of where I would have to send my headshot and resume… I’m involved in every acting community in town, I’ve competed alongside the top actors of my state (Florida) and I can play piano and sing. I know there is a very slim chance that I’d be considered since I’m not in the screen actors guild… But hey! It’s worth a shot… wilder things have happened…

I, too would like to audition for any female part, big or small, in this movie. Information on auditions are needed please. I am 14, but people tell me all the time that I look older than that(in this case that’s a good thing hahaha) My natural hair color is brown but I am completely fine with dying it black for the part. I can read any section from the book or entirely new material. If the cast has already been made, that information would be helpful too. I have fallen(haha) completely in love with these books and would do anything to audition. If the cast has already been made but you need extras, notify me also. Thanks a bunch! I’m a huge fan of Disney!

I’m Sam, I’m from South Africa, yo!
I’ve ‘fallen in love’ (see what I did there?) With this series. Since I started reading the series I’ve always stated that I was meant to play Luce, now I know many girls say this.. So, I was wondering if there are auditions for this movie? I need to at least try and see if I could get the role. My plan would hopefully be sending in a DVD and all that and if they do consider me but would rather prefer a live audition to see, my family and I would make plans to get to that audition. I am passionate about the arts (acting, music etc). So please, if anyone has details, please let me know

I am 17, naturally have dark brown hair (Thanks to my dad whom of which is Portuguese), I am petite, hazel/brown eyes, height? I suck with ft so I’ll just say not at all tall but not at all short maybe.. 5′something.. I guess.. ‘Playing’ Luce would be like ‘playing’ myself. I’m much like her. I am a very passionate person (like she is, not in a sexual sense but more like.. She knows who she’s meant for and she won’t give up) she’s shy and all that. So again, let me know
